Bok team for first Tri-Nations Test

All Black team to face the Boks

Graham Henry has made two changes to the All Black team that beat the Wallabies to face the Springboks in the Tri-Nations encounter on Saturday in Bloemfontein with with Brendon Leonard and Joe Rokocoko returning to the starting line-up.

The team features two changes to the team that beat Australia 22 – 16 in Auckland last weekend, with Leonard getting his third start at scrumhalf in his 11th Test at the expense of Jimmy Cowan who drops out of the matchday squad, while Piri Weepu remains on the bench.

Rokocoko replaces Cory Jane on the right wing for his 56th Test. Rokocoko has scored nine tries against South Africa, one behind Christian Cullen’s South Africa try-scoring record of 10.

Commenting on the changes to the starting XV, Henry said while Cowan and Jane had both played well against Australia it was important that other players in the squad were given an opportunity as well.

“We were really happy with the effort and the progress made against Australia and we are looking for continued improvement in the first Test against South Africa.  It will be a massive challenge against our old foes,” Henry said.

Dearly Beloved Newsletter Aug 09, Volume 8, Issue 1

Dearly Beloved

We greet you with the grace and peace that comes from God our Father and our Master, Jesus Christ.

Every time you cross our minds, we break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. We find ourselves praying for you with a glad heart.

The above is adopted from Phil 1:2-4 MSG. We could not possibly find better words to express what we feel in our hearts than these gleaned from the word of God.

The last seven months you have not only continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, but were committed to do so much more in pursuing to grow this ministry.

We realize that it does not only take extra money, but a lot of time is being sacrificed by so many, continually. We want to encourage you with the promises of God:

Remember that the person who plants few seeds will have a small crop; the one who plants many seeds will have a large crop. ”v7 You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly. 8 And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause. 2 Cor 9:6-8 GNB

God is not unfair. He will not forget the work you did or the love you showed for him in the help you gave and are still giving to other Christians. Heb 6:10 GNB

When each one contributes as they are gifted (Eph 4:16) or has prospered (1 Cor 16:2), we all give equally. God does not look at what we give as much as at what we are able to give or contribute (Mark 12:41-44). Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities! (Luke 12:48 MSG).

WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH.

At the same time we cannot encourage you enough to continue your hard work and extra effort, because God will reward each one according to their work (Rev 22:12). But allow God Himself to speak to you:

A man’s harvest in life depends entirely on the seeds he sows. (Gal 6:7 Ph)

For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give– large or small– will be used to measure what is given back to you.” Luke 6:38 TLB

MSG Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back–given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”

So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. 10 Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith. Gal 6:9-10 MSG

So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord’s service is ever useless. 1 Cor 15:58 GNB

We appreciate your every effort and love you all dearly!

Let Go of Past Hurts

LET GO OF PAST HURTS

Past. Melody vd Merwe

Intro: We’ve all been hurt by somebody. There’s a right way to handle it and a wrong way to handle it.

Rom 12:19 (TLB) “Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God, for he has said that he will repay those who deserve it.”

1. Give Up Your Right To Get Even

Hurt does not destroy relationships – it’s the unwillingness to forgive that destroys relationships

Be willing to forgive – walk in love – forgive – God does.

The Lord’s Prayer. Matt 6:12(NKJ) …forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

V14+15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Read also in the Living Bible.

v12 …and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. v14 Your heavenly Father will forgive you if you forgive those who sin against you; but if you refuse to forgive them, he will not forgive you.

Matt 7:1-5 (TLB)… “Judge not that you may not be judged.”

Luke 6:37-38 37 (NKJ) “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

38   “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

  • PAY IT FORWARD

2.  Respond to Evil With Good

Rom12:21

Matt 5:44 (NKJ) … and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you”

You can tell that you’ve released somebody, completely forgiven them when you can actually pray for God to bless the person who hurt you.

3.  Repeat This As Long as Necessary

Forgiveness is rarely a one-time shot.

When somebody hurts you, you tend to think about it over and over and over.

Rom 12:2 (NKJ) “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind” – CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS

  • Prov: as a man thinks in his heart so is he.

Illustration: Broken Car – Jack – Keep it.

How often do you have to forgive the person? Peter asks Jesus Matt 18:21+22 7 x….? No, 70×7.

I.e. it needs to be continual, limitless; we shouldn’t even try to count the times we forgive, just as Jesus doesn’t count the times He forgives us.

Ps 103:12 (TLB) “…He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west.”

4.  Tell Others About God’s Forgiveness

2 Cor 5:19+20 – Be reconciled to God

LET GO OF YESTERDAY OR YOU’LL NEVER REACH TOMORROW!

Walk in the Spirit – Developing Self-Control

19 JULY 2009 (09:30am)

WALK IN THE SPIRIT – DEVELOPING SELF-CONTROL

Past. Melody vd Merwe

2 Tim 1:7 (NKJ) “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

WW: The word denotes good judgement, disciplined thought patterns, and the ability to understand and make right decisions. It includes the qualities of self-control and self-discipline.

God has not given us spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and love and self-control.

Prov. 16:32 (TLB) “It is better to be slow-tempered than famous; it is better to have self-control than to control an army.”

SELF-CONTROL IS NOT OPTIONAL FOR CHRISTIANS: WE ARE TO LIVE GODLY LIVES

Titus 2:11-12 (NIV) “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age”

1 Cor. 9:25 Self-control is not optional for Christians. The race we are running is for eternity, and so we’re to develop a strict discipline.

STEPS TO SELF-CONTROL

1. BELIEVE YOU CAN CHANGE
The fruit of the Spirit begins in your thought life. The seeds must be planted in your mind. The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel determines the way you act.

God gave us the power to choose our thoughts.
Rom 12:2 (NKJ) “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Prov 23:7

2. MASTER YOUR MOOD
Godly people live by their commitments, not their emotions. They do the right thing, even when they don’t feel like it.

Prov 25:28 (NLT) “A person without self-control is as defenceless as a city with broken-down walls.”

Prov 14:29 (TLB) “A wise man controls his temper. He knows that anger causes mistakes.”

Master your moods – don’t allow them to master you.

NB! Your attitude determines your altitude.

3. WATCH YOUR WORDS.
Put your mind in gear before opening your mouth (Touch, Pause, Engage).

Prov 13:3 (TLB) “Self-control means controlling the tongue! A quick retort can ruin everything.”

Prov 18:21(TLB) “Those who love to talk will suffer the consequences. Men have died for saying the wrong thing!”
(Death & Life are in the power of the tongue) (Helpful, Kind, Necessary)

4. RESTRAIN YOUR ACTIONS
How much can you take before you loose your cool?

Prov 19:11(TLB) “A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults. This is to his credit.”

Prov 16:32(TLB) “It is better to be slow-tempered than famous; (it is better to have self-control than to control an army.)”

NB! 1 Cor 10:13 (NIV) “… And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear….”

5. SCHEDULE (BUDGET) YOUR TIME.
If you don’t determine how you will spend your time, you can be sure others will decide for you!

If you fail to plan – you plan to fail

Prioritize – God, Family, Work, Church etc.

Eph 5:16 (KJV) “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” – (Capitalizing on every appropriate opportunity) (Notes) – Koop die tyd uit!

6. MANAGE YOUR MONEY
Learn to live on less than you make – save the difference.
Rich people invest their money and spend what is left.
Poor people spend their money and invest (save) what is left.

Prov 21:20 (TLB) “The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.”

The value of a budget is that it tells your money where you want it to go, rather than wondering where it went.

We are to be good stewards of what we (get) receive – every area of life.

7. MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH
That way you can accomplish more and enjoy your achievements.

1 Cor 6:19 (TLB) “Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you.”

1 Thes 4:4 (NLT) “…control your body and live in holiness and honour.”

  • WE ARE BEING TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF OUR MIND – THE WORD TRANSFORMS US.

The fact is: WE CAN NEVER HONESTLY SAY – THE TEMPTATION WAS TOO STRONG. I COULDN’T HELP MYSELF.

1 Cor 10:13  – God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

WHERE DO YOU NEED TO DEVELOP SELF-CONTROL?

The disciplines you establish today will determine your success tomorrow! – Rick Warren

Roy Hicks: If you put the Word of God into you when you don’t need it, the Holy Spirit will bring it out of you when you do need it.
