DO YOU LEAVE PEOPLE BETTER
THAN YOU FOUND THEM?
One of the most exciting decisions you can make is to be on the lookout for opportunities to invest in others. For me, this has been one of the most powerful principles of momentum I’ve implemented in my life. About ten years ago, I remember driving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, from St. Louis Missouri with my family. I was listening to a Zig Ziglar tape and on this tape he said, “You’ll always have everything you want in life if you’ll help enough other people get what they want.” When I heard this statement, literally, something went off inside of me, and I said out loud, “I’m going to do it.” That decision to look for ways to help others, to invest in them, changed my life.
“There are three keys to more abundant living: caring about others, daring for others and sharing with others” (William Ward). Assign yourself the purpose of making others happy and successful. People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be.
There are two types of people in the world: those who come into a room and say, “Here I am!” and those who come in and say, “Ah there you are!” Do this: “If you cannot win, make the one ahead of you break the record” (Jan McKeithen). Invest in others. It pays great dividends.

AIM: Realize that we can only walk in the light of what we know. We must know what those rights are or we’ll be robbed of all that belongs to us. (That which was purchased for us).

Choose Faith and Question Your Fears by Tom Holladay
Choose Faith and Question Your Fears
by Tom Holladay
“Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (CEV)
Our worries always grow out of our fears. Whether you worry about your kids or your job, there is a fear behind it.
In Matthew 8, the disciples were afraid of the overwhelming storm so, in their worry, they went and woke Jesus. He responded to them with this question, “Why are you so afraid?” (Matthew 8:26 NLT). Jesus caused them to question their fears. Why? When we feel like our fears are the final authority, they guide our lives. But when we start to question our fears, we begin to realize they are not the final authority. God is.
One of God’s most common commands in the Bible is “do not fear.” God told Joshua, “Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged!” (Joshua 1:9 CEV). He also told this to everyone from Abraham in the Old Testament to Zacharias in the New Testament. He shared this command with Isaac, Jacob, Hagar, Rachel, Moses, Gideon, Elijah, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Peter, Paul, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. All of them faced fears and all of them were commanded by God not to be afraid.
The question isn’t whether you are or afraid or not, it’s what you do with that fear. When you’re afraid, you will probably choose one of three ways to respond: to live with fear; to run from fear; or to face up to fear with faith.
Jesus wants you to face up to fear with faith. “I’m leaving you with a gift, peace of mind and heart. And the peace that I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled, don’t be afraid” (John 14:27 LB).

Phil 2:12 (NIV) … continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling…
(LB) … You must be even more careful to do the good things that result from being saved, obeying God with deep reverence, shrinking back from all that might displease Him…
Continue – ceaseless, steady, faithful, consistent, changeless, invariable, dependable, constant.
Luke 9:23 …then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let Him deny himself, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow Me.”
Someone who does not continue – finish what he started is not trusted – “We’ll see how long this lasts!” – Don’t be an off again, on again Christian. We’re not to be up one day and down the next, on fire one day and cold the next – not a pendulum!!
Fresh + Salt water – James 3:11+12 (NIV)
We must be the same – consistent – constant.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
2 Cor 1:18-22 (NKJ)(Notes)
In consistency lies the power!!
The Father is constantly the same!!
James 1:17 …every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
(NIV)…from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
(LB) … and He (father) shines forever without change or shadow.
WE MUST CONTINUE
Col 1:21-23 (NIV) & Col 2:6+7
1 John 2:28 – 3:3 (NIV)
2 John 9 (NIV) – Looking back
Luke 9:59+62
Our Example
Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) – communion (Proclaiming the Lord’s death till He comes) 1 Cor 11
v42 (NKJV)… they continued steadfastly…
James 1:22-25 (NIV)
2 Tim 4:2 … be ready in season and out of season… (remember Jesus and the fig tree Mark 11)
Continue to produce fruit of the spirit. Gal 5:22 (NIV)
Determine today to continue in the Word, and prayer consistently, steadfastly, unwaveringly, faithfully, changelessly, invariably, dependably THEN you will be like a tree planted by the water (Ps 1). THEN you will hear… “Well done good and faithful servant”.
DETERMINE TODAY TO BE CONSISTENT!!
